When There’s No Money

According to Financial Capability Strategy For The UK, 11.5 million have less than £100 in savings, nearly 9 million are in serious debt, and only around a third receive help. The organization also says “People in financial difficulties are more likely than average to be women, living on lower incomes and have experience of mental health issues”. Citizens Advice Bureau states, Half of the people in the UK have already used their savings to pay bills in the past year (prior to March 2025) and 1 in 3 people in the UK are living on a “financial knife edge”.

Kenya & U.S.A

A 2024 poll by Infotrak showed that out of the 73 percent affected Kenyans, 18 percent are in severe financial distress while 55 percent are struggling to make ends meet. In the land of allegedly make America great again, a report on the Economic Well-Being of U.S. Households in 2023 - May 2024 reported that near the end of 2023, 19 percent were “just getting by" and 9 percent were "finding it difficult to get by". An April 2025 Pew Research Centre survey said “28% say they expect their financial situation for them and their family to be worse a year from now”.

Entrepreneurship

While Immigrant and non-white ethnic populations continue to be the most entrepreneurial groups in the UK according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, generating new business was the number one top pressure point for business owners in 2023. If you don’t generate new business, money becomes a problem, a big one.

For many businesses, especially in the beginning, you may do income producing activities, but they are not always going to be regular, and this is where the challenge comes. One thing about life, bills/costs will be regular and in fact they will rise but if that doesn’t match what’s coming in = problems. And this is where my testimony lies.

Background

In 2021 after 2 years of Long Covid, that restricted my physical abilities, I took a leap of faith to find something that would work with my new body. By that time, I’d been practising as a community pharmacist for 15 years. During those many years, I’d always wanted to do something else but didn’t know what. After a lot of searching, conversations, mentorship and prayer, I found what I didn’t know I had been looking for, health coaching.

I went through the training, which I completed in 8 months instead of 9 months because I loved the course, a first, and I wanted to start helping people using this life transformational approach.  I also wanted to qualify before my 4^th floor birthday. Praise God I did. Then the journey through the desert began!

Resilient Unwavering Effort

Starting a health coaching practice requires time, dedication and devotion. I reduced my pharmacy locuming hours to grow my practice. Before I qualified, I knew it would be hard to grow my practice, and I persevered and kept trying different things with Gods help. The journey came with many lessons, some painful, within a short time.

I am in my 2^nd year, and it feels like I've been wandering the desert for a longer time but the output tells me otherwise. I was thinking the other day, the challenges I’ve seen in these 2 years, I don’t feel I saw in my many years as a pharmacist. Pharmacy had its fair share of problems but these problems…they are too many to list and I want to steer you to the testimony because I am here to encourage you.

Man Plans

What allowed me to transition was that I had saved a bit thinking I would buy a house. As the Excellent book says, "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.” I didn’t get to the stage of buying a house and Thank God! That saving is what gave me the freedom to invest in my training and reduce the locuming hours to try and grow the practice and continue on this journey.

I was in many groups before qualifying and saw the challenges health coaches faced in terms of getting new business. I was glad to have seen this before I qualified. It cushioned me for the challenge to come. After a certain time, the savings started to go down, meanwhile the expenses were still present and going up as per the cost of living.

Sustenance

What I am grateful for is that God has sustained me the whole time. There was no mightily expensive emergency that then threw my finances off. God is Good. The savings started to go down and I always thought something would come up before it ran out. I started to get fearful because it was running low. I prayed and prayed which is my usual M.O. I remember a few times trying to console myself that sometimes we fear things that won’t even happen.

I was afraid the savings would finish. For other people the testimony begins here, and they will say praise God the savings didn’t finish, God is God. For me, a month ago that fear came true and I was in tears because it was the beginning of the month, and the bills were billing! They had even been fruitful and multiplied. Is God still Good? Always & Forever.

Pre-existing challenges

I cried out to God which is something I have had to do a lot for the past 5 years. Initially it was due to Long Covid, now it was this career that seemed to have a weapon formed that was prospering. I decided to leave it in Gods hands with a few of my favourite verses being repeated in my mind when I got anxious. “Is anything too hard for the Lord” “The Lord is my shepherd, I LACK NOTHING!” That last one is said with an attitude and a neck twirl!

Sharper Than A Two-Edged Sword

While others go for affirmations, I prefer Bible verses. Bible verses are literally God speaking. If you’ve ever wanted to hear God, read your Bible, that’s him speaking to you. The word is sharper than a two-edged sword and I need that kind of power for this mind that wanders and can go into worry mode even when I shouldn’t because God has come through... Again!

I don’t see how I can keep playing Gods words in my mind and they don’t do anything knowingly and unknowingly to me. This unknowingly part is where I believe I have received the peace that surpasses understanding for all the valleys I have passed through in these 5 years and even before that, like my dad’s gruesome murder, which should have left me traumatised BUT GOD! Reading your Bible is doing far more than you can ever understand or know. Appointed people

In my practice newsletter some weeks ago, I shared the benefit of speaking to someone you trust about your challenges. Amongst the many reasons for doing that, it shortens the time to get to the solution. I am privileged to be in many groups, some faith based, some professional. I shared my challenge in one particular group so they can keep me in their prayers. One thing I know about them is they believe, and they believe prayer changes things.

I repeat “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.” God had other plans in me sharing my challenge that I didn’t know. It was the beginning of him strategically using one handful of people to show me what he means by he will do abundantly and exceedingly far more than you can ask think or imagine. One of my group members approached me on the side and asked if she could bless my account with gold, frankincense and myrrh. That was a month ago. For Your information, a few months prior she was also in the same position. Look at her heart and Look at God!

Life More Abundantly

That same month, I lost a close family member, and it was a no brainer I would need to travel for the funeral, but how would I when the well was dry and there was no money! It was also the month the kids broke for summer holidays which meant the ticket prices were crazy ridiculous. The Excellent Book tells the story of how the women who were going to anoint Jesus body, early Sunday morning, were worried who would roll away the stone for them.

When they arrived, the stone was already rolled away! Same thing happened to me. I was worried about something that was already fixed! I was worried who would roll the stone of the new emergency. Who is like God! he used not one but two sources to bless me with more gold, frankincense and myrrh in my account. One source blessed me not once not twice but three times. The other source had said they would bless me with one figure but the amount that arrived in my account was SIX times more! I repeat Who is like God! He wasn’t done with the syllabus of he will do abundantly and exceedingly far more than I could have cried, asked, thought or imagined.

Vulnerability

I was talking to a friend of mine and sharing with her about the loss and how it happened at a bad time. She asked for more details on what I meant by a bad time. I shared things had been difficult but gave her 6 testimonies of how despite things being bad, God was still helping me.

We have the opportunity when things go wrong to either moan like the children of Israel in the desert or use it to highlight the goodness and mercy of God. God was faithful first of all to give me the sense not to moan and grumble. He then remained faithful and next thing my friend asks for my account to bless it with… yes, gold, frankincense and myrrh. Who is like God! He had one more trick up his sleeve.

God works in mysterious ways

A friend was coming with his kids to London and wanted to meet up. Once I found out the funeral dates, I let him know. He suggested he could house sit the house and pay for it since he was already set to pay for accommodation anyway. Look at God! After 2 years in my own practice, you’d think money conversations come naturally to me. No, they don’t.

I did what I did when I don’t know what to do. I prayed and told God he knew my situation and to work it out. I had a figure in mind, and I put that figure to God. WHO IS LIKE GOD! My friend told me he had put some, gold, frankincense and myrrh in my account and when I checked, he exceeded the figure I had in my mind and bear in mind we hadn’t discussed a figure. I repeat, God will do abundantly and exceedingly far more than you can cry, ask, think or imagine.

What’s Impossible For Man is Possible for God

With these 5 people, God has done for me exceedingly and abundantly far more than I could cry, ask, think or imagine or generate in the 2 years I’ve been practising. And I never opened my mouth to ask any single one to give me this and that , gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Like Hagar said, "The God who sees me" just did what he does Phenomenally! The incidences this month were one on a Saturday, one on the Monday after and one on Tuesday, the next day.  I went from nothing to an amount on its way to my previous monthly pharmacy salary. God has done more in 5 incidences, close to each other, than I have for myself in 2 years! Hallelujah! and Won't he do it!

Miracle Loading

Am I out of the financial knife edge? Not yet. Despite this mighty testimony, listen to this madness. Last night, in preparation for end month, I decided to look at my account. I did what I do when I’m troubled, prayed but found myself crying.

Walk by Faith Not By Sight

This is what being a descendant of Adam does to you. First of all, I heard a great sermon titled “stop counting” that taught me not to count when resources are dwindling. Daudi as I call him aka David, counted his army and God punished him because he forgot that all the battles he had fought was always God who had given him the victory, not the size of his army! Ask Gideon, God asked him to reduce his army from 22,000 to 300 and HE WON the battle! Because God Wins with anything and anyone he choses.

Ask Elijah against the 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah. Elijah won mightily because when you are alone, you are never alone. God is with you and he will give you victory. Numbers don't matter to God. In any case like I heard a preacher say, You + God = A Majority! Hallelujah! As a minority, this is very comforting.

Your flesh can take you into worry mode just like Peter who was walking nicely on water then he panicked and started sinking. I started sinking into tears after counting my resources, then this Kind God just like he did to Peter, IMMEDIATELY, took my hand and encouraged me. He is the same God who brought the gold, frankincense and myrrh using those 5 people on 5 different days, so he will do it again!

These last 2 years have taught me that in my pharmacy years, it was not I who gave myself career success and the permanent consistent salary that I had. It was always God. I knew but i didn't know. He is the same today as then. Now he is testing me to rely on him and not myself, now that he has shown me who has really been behind my achievements, comforts, and luxuries. God has always been the provider and as Abraham told Isaac "God himself, will provide...". Not my skill, not my knowledge, not my strengths, not my years of experience, not me.

And praise God, because I can't do exceedingly far more for myself. I've even learnt I can't do anything, just as Jesus said without him you can do nothing. He wasn't just talking. Its True. God can and he wants to blow my mind. This long season has pointed that to me and I am grateful because if God is the provider, and he is with me, I am more than a conqueror! I heard a sermon that taught if i remember correctly that, more than a conqueror translated from the original language is actually winning on every side!

I can rely on God to win on every side for me-career, health, finances, friendships, love life, family (present and upcoming). I don’t have to fear for he is with me, I don’t have to be dismayed because he is my God, he will help and strengthen me and uphold me with his Victorious right hand. That’s another verse that helps me when I'm walking by sight and getting anxious.

Ever blessing Father

God will bless me again because he is God! That's his job! He will do it again because nothing is too hard for him. Not even the size of bills I have. He will do it again because he is just a blessing God. He will do it again because same way he healed me from Long Covid, when I didn’t see his healing coming immediately, is how he will do this other miracle, in his own time and his own way. Even if he has to pay my bills with manna, or send ravens to give me gold, frankincense and myrrh or send a big fish or even a small one with a coin, he will do it how he will do it and he will do it! Amen!

He will do it again because he will never leave me nor forsake me, he never has and won’t start and definitely not now in my time of need! Contrary to what the world believes and even some Christians, God answers prayers. Part of the challenges in my practice has been to see the lack of support from people I honestly thought would be supportive. God is NEVER like that.

God knows

He will do it again because he knows, and I have also come to know, if he doesn’t do it, it won’t be done. I need his support and he will avail himself mercifully. He will do it again because I need another mighty testimony to encourage you and others. He will do it again because he knows his children don’t understand, fathom or believe, he can part the red sea specially for them. They don't understand he can drop frankincense, gold and myrrh when they need it the most. I must be a witness of his goodness and share what he can do, which is far more than you can cry, ask, think or imagine in all areas of your life. So he has to do what he did again. Amen and amen.

What are you looking for, because you will get it

You’re looking for money, he will do far more than you can cry, ask, think or imagine. You’re looking for peace that surpasses understanding, the kind of peace that when negative things happen, you’re not even phased, the kind of peace that elevates you to a higher spiritual level, he will do far more than you can cry, ask, think or imagine. You’re looking for comfort following grief, whether it was today, last week, last month, 4 years or 40 years ago, he will do far more than you can cry, ask, think or imagine.

You’re looking for a break in life because you are just tired! I hear you child of God, I really hear you. God will do far more than you can cry, ask, think or imagine. You’re looking to sleep better, lose weight, stop overthinking, stop procrastinating, stop eating junk and sugary drinks and food. You’re looking to stop the addiction, you’ve tried to stop smoking, not drinking, it just seems impossible. God will do far more than you can cry, ask, think or imagine.

Only Believe

The only thing God needs you to do is believe he can do it. That’s it!  Nothing else. My testimony within the testimony is many times when God has blessed me, shortly before, I’ve been raggedy aka sinful and a pure descendant of Adam and Eve. Yet God has blessed me anyway. Let no one lie to you, that you have to be this perfect person to receive Gods’ abundant and exceeding blessings. God is just a blessing and loving God. God gives you both grace and his bountiful blessings. He is not like humans who withhold their help, forgiveness and love because they deem you wrong.

The other best part, he doesn't need any help from you or anything in this world to help him. He will do it by himself and exceptionally phenomenally well. Look at outer space and ask, if God can do that for space, why won't he do for you whom he loves so much, you who is made in his own image, abundantly and exceedingly much more than you can cry, ask think or imagine. Do you believe he has the power to handle that thing that's overwhelming you to tears? Will you let him go to work and bless you far more than you can cry, ask, think or imagine? I pray you do, because God is ready to blow your mind. Don't block him.
