Biography

Michelle Obama, Viola Davis, Barack Obama, Prince, Trevor Noah, Rob Lowe, Jane Fonda, Nadiya Hussain all have one thing in common. They all have a biography/memoir. According to blurb.com "The goal of a biography is to take the reader through the life story of the person, including their childhood into adolescence and teenage years, and then their early adult life into the rest of their years.” According to aimlay.com “Biographies symbolize several different things, depending on who is reading them and why.” I think it is safe to say that for many people who chose to read a biography, something about that person has already intrigued them and they want to know more about them.

I just heard a sermon that said how the “Christians” in Noah’s day and Lots’ Day were no different to the world. In Noah’s time only 8 people were saved and in Lots’ time only 3 people were saved. One thing about humans is we are all the same so the unfortunate thing that I’m sure breaks Gods’ heart is that the Christians of today are no different to the world. Many times, if not all the time, nothing sets us apart from people who don’t believe in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I remember as a child we were taught this song, “read your Bible every day, if you want to grow.” The lyrics may even be “read your Bible, pray every day, if you want to grow.” Whichever it is, reading your Bible every day was part of the formula to grow. My testimony is this. I can see a clear difference between the time I never used to read the Excellent Book and the time I have been intentional about reading it. It is such a powerful book and this is why in my blog, I always refer to it as the Excellent Book. My hope and desire in writing these testimonies is to share with you how my walk with my Heavenly Father has not been straight and if I am talking about certain things, I am talking from a place of personal experience and not judgement.

In fact, the other day I heard a sermon that said the walk will never be straight. The best thing about that “crooked” walk is God has known this before I was even a zygote. As a result, he has given his Grace & Mercy which are endless. The purpose of his Grace & Mercy is to sustain me from the time I started this marathon called life, so I can understand that regardless of what I do, He is always with me, will never leave me nor forsake me. I now like to remix this into current buzzwords that he will never abandon me nor reject me because he loves me and you unconditionally! God is so Good!

The other day I saw a nice skit of a person who rang heaven to say their believer app was having a glitch. The angel looked into it and told the caller they had been classed as LWC and until they rectified that, their believer app would continue to have glitches (clip link below). Lukewarm Christian (LWC) is described in the video with reference to what God will do to these types of Christians, which is in the Excellent Book in Revelation 3:15-18. I have intentionally not put what the verse says because that is the whole point of this article.

I remember one time I went to church, and it dawned on me that the only time I would read the Excellent Book was on a Saturday when I went to church. I would go to church every Saturday so that meant every Saturday I read the Excellent Book. By this time, I had been going to church for over 20 years of my entire life. I thought to myself that can’t be right. I would wake up, pray, jump on my social media and continue with my day. I remember another meme saying, how do we jump on social media first thing, without even checking our legs are working. I decided to change all this. I started with reading a chapter in the morning, then I switched to night, then I thought why not do both. Before I go to bed so I can also sleep well with the word as the last thing in my mind and in the morning before the devil starts hurling his darts.

My testimony is that it’s in this turnaround that I found my 2nd favourite verse in my lifetime. The first I had found as a teen. This second one is the one that has carried me through many moments of fear, anxiety, worry, uncertainty. It spoke to me instantly and its one of the verses I feel God wrote specially for me. Why I also think it was written for me is because I didn’t have to take time and effort to memorize it. It just sunk in. It is found in the Excellent Book of Isaiah 41:10. Please let me repeat and say how this verse has carried me. What has that done to me exactly?

Its’ helped me to turn to God. Its’ helped me be calm in moments when I could or should be helter skelter or all over the place. It has helped me remember who God is in that moment of panic or uncertainty. It has reminded me that the Sovereign God is always with me, contrary to those feelings that may lie to me that I am alone. I have discovered fear has been a big part of my life and this verse spoke to that by saying the God of the universe does NOT want me to fear! So, if he is saying fear not! Why should I fear? This is the part that did it for me. In addition to that this mighty God does NOT want me to be dismayed and he says why. This God who defeats death will help me, strengthen me and uphold me with his victorious right hand, meaning with his help I always win! This is just what ONE verse has done for me. ONE!

I have since found others that continue to sustain me through life. You can have self-made affirmations or affirmations from another human being but the affirmation and promises you get from God are Mightier than anything because the Excellent Book says the word of God is sharper than a two-edged sword. Nothing and no one can compare to this. It is so relevant to this day and age because the same Excellent Book says Gods’ word is Living and Active. How can this God who created the world in 6 days by this same WORD, write something that is not relevant to his children, who are made in his own image, in a way that doesn’t sustain them until that day they will all meet him face to face. How?

The Word of God gives us a view of the Biography of God. Every Christian needs to be intentional about reading this Divine Biography, yes because they are intrigued by God but also because they Believe in God and Choose to get to know him better. If you believe how then will you not read? There is so much to discover in those 66 books and why wouldn’t you want to discover if you believe in God? Why does he love us so much?

Why on earth does he give us these rules that even he knows we will not be able to follow, to the point he has to give Grace as a contingency to help us get home? Why did he send his son anyway? Why are some of my prayers not answered? Why does God want me to love my neighbour as I love myself? Why does he want all his children, not just his daughters but his sons too, not to fornicate? What’s the problem with having a party spirit?

What’s the issue with idols? We know what the world believes when someone dies but what does God say about what happens to someone when they die? The goal of a biography as stated above is to learn about the person when they were growing up. How was Jesus as a child? The difference with the other biographies is that they have encouragement and advice for you, but God steps it up in his ways that are higher than our ways and his thoughts that are higher than our thoughts. He tells of a plan he has you and for his children ultimately. So, what’s his specific plan for you from the promise that he has plans for good and not for evil ?

With the biographies, you get to know more about the person. When we don’t read the Excellent Book we simply don’t get to know God at all. We don’t get to understand anything about him, what he says and why he says what he says. We will struggle to then do what he asks us to do and we will always struggle in a struggle we were never meant to struggle. That struggle to do what he asks us to do, is what sometimes gives birth to sin or lack of faith or hope. After making a mistake, sadly one I have been making consistently so is it even a mistake or outright rebellion, I had an epiphany about why God doesn’t want us to sin. It puts a wedge between us and God. We feel ashamed to pray and ashamed to go Boldly before God.

The Excellent Book says its God’s desire for us to go Boldly before him but when we fall short, we do as our ancestors Adam & Eve did, we hide. God doesn’t want us to hide. He wants us to keep walking with him every day regardless of what we do or how we feel about our deeds. Just like he was “looking” for Adam & Eve when they ate the fruit, God continues to look for us every moment we breathe, and he hopes we will open the door and let him in. But how do you open your door to a stranger? It’s God’s desire that we get to know him through his Divine Biography, then you will understand why it has and always will be his mission to look for you.

This is a walk of faith so we can’t live on facts about what we have heard from others. When we don’t read Gods’ Biography we live on facts our parents, teachers, preachers have told us. Many times, they are not even true, so we have to read the Divine Biography for ourselves to see the truth. Facts will never multiply faith, reading the Divine Biography will. Facts will never strengthen our faith. Facts won’t give us what faith gives us; hope, peace, and a way to overcome the realities and extremes of life, one of the worst being death.

Facts will never let us live the life God has for us and wants for us. Getting to know who God is through his Biography will give us a perspective this world can never understand, can never get with and never will. This is why the Excellent Book says friendship with the world is enmity with God. To the world, there is no way the red sea was parted and there is no way a man can die on Friday and be raised up on Sunday THEN on top of that be raised up to heaven sometime after.

The Divine Biography will let us know there is a God who gives us peace beyond human/worldly understanding. The Divine Biography also lets us know to lean not on our understanding. Leaning on our understanding, drives us nuts, doesn’t even answer the question and delays healing of our wounds. Facts will make us blame God for everything because we don’t know who this stranger is, how he works and also how his rival works and has been working.

Facts will not let us be fully obedient to God because how can we trust a stranger we don’t know; how can we surrender to someone we have no clue about? Facts will make us question and outrightly rebel against God because on top of being a stranger we haven’t learnt to put him and not us, first. How can we put a stranger before ourselves? Facts will therefore put our needs first and not God. Facts will let us believe that as a Christian we can and its ok to live exactly how a non-Christian lives. Facts will show our outward Christian life exactly the same as a non-Christian.

Facts will make our life practices, life choices, indulgences, stress style, coping mechanisms, lifestyle, health, habits, dating practices & experiences exactly the same as a non-Christian. Basically, Facts will make US the god of our life just like the world has its own gods. This is why we will struggle with life, because as human beings we will be acting out a role that is impossible for us and thus sets us up for failure because we were not created to occupy that role.

We were created to be loved unconditionally just the way we are. We were created to be helped, strengthened, and comforted. We were created to be co-creators of marvellous and excellent things because we come from the Grand Creator who creates all the Phenomenally amazing, breathtaking and beautiful things of the universe. Just look at a picture of outer space, constellations and the milky way. You've been given the genes to do something great whether you believe it or not. It is in you. You have not been given the genes to self-destruct and thus destroy yourself and others. I know, the world will say otherwise.

There is one whose mission is to steal kill and destroy and it’s the devil. He doesn’t want you to believe you can do great things. He knows if you do, you will see the Incredibly Great value your father has put in you. If you see the great value in you, the devil knows its him you will destroy because you will be fully armoured with the Faith in the One who put the high value tag on your life, i.e., the One who died for you and the one who has always defeated him. What he also does, is to find any way possible to block and prevent you from reading the Divine Biography because he knows how powerful it is.

The path of facts is clear. When I say failure, off course someone will have the money, job, promotion, nice office, house, car, lifestyle, partner/spouse, kids, reasonable health, holidays, fun, lots of fun actually, friends, recognition, accolades and achievements, air miles, VIP treatment or just a nice simple life. If you lose one or all of those things like Job did, will you have the peace that surpasses all understanding?

The only way to get that reassurance is when you have hope and faith that starts from Believing and choosing to read the Divine Biography. To be armoured with Job like faith, you need to know God. This Divine Biography will let you know you that even when you have lost something or someone valuable you still have Everything. How! This God has everything in his hands and so if you are connected to him, you are always connected to and have everything.

Reading this Divine Biography will let you see and know the truth for yourself, and not what anyone including the famous pastors and Christian social media people have told you. Please read your Bible every day and grow in a way the world will never know. You will see God for yourself! With this new friend and new relationship that begins, life will be different not because of you but because of the victorious right hand that will be upholding you. Victory and healing for your soul will be yours in a way that no therapy, no yoga, no reiki, no crystals, no sage, no mindfulness, no tarot, no medium can ever give you. How? Because it’s a Victory that takes you to Eternity, where Jesus is waiting eagerly to put that beautiful crown on your head.
