Don’t Set Yourself Up For Disappointment in 2026

It's interesting that many people in the world don't believe in God but are very quick to point out and perhaps even judge that Christians are not doing what they should be doing. Which means they know something about Christianity and something about what Christians should be doing and not doing, which is a good thing. And in their pointing out and in their observations of what Christians shouldn’t be doing or should be doing, many times they are actually right. There are things that we should be doing and things we should not be doing, and all this is based on what God has said, which is found in the Bible. The Question is will we ever do everything as God has instructed us to do in the Bible? The good news is the answer is right there in the same same Bible. When you see that answer you will then set yourself up not to be disappointed in this life and in 2026.
Disappointment comes when you expect someone to do something in a certain way or in a certain time or just how you want it and they don't. When you understand who a human is, this understanding will help you manage your expectations and thus disappointment. And not just in being realistic in how you engage with others but most of all help you see things from a spiritual point of view which is where everything happens and is the root explanation as to why things and people can be disappointing.
Jesus is the only one who is perfect and without sin, meaning he is the only one who did and does everything God has said we should do. If we understand this, then we won’t be setting ourselves up for disappointment because we will be living in the truth that the only one who will not disappoint us is Jesus. This means your mother, father, husband, wife, children, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, cousins, nephews, nieces, colleagues, boss, neighbour, pastor, church congregation and any human that you may revere, will disappoint you. Jesus talks about it frequently in the Excellent Book. Whether they intentionally or unintentionally set out to hurt you is not even the issue. The issue is they are not Jesus.
Don’t set yourself up to be disappointed by expecting a descendant of Adam and Eve aka a human to do what only Jesus can do. Does it mean we live in fear. Never! God has said he has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind. Does it mean we don’t ever try to do what God tells us to do. No! We live a life of being committed to try but first of all, we realise even trying on our own is something we can’t do. Jesus is the only one who succeeds at everything, so we go to him so we can even try!
Our strategy then becomes asking Jesus for help in everything and allowing him to help us how he will help us not how we want him to help us. In other words, Total Surrender. The kind people give when they are in an operation theatre when they give themselves fully to the surgeon. Sign your consent form and let Jesus help you. Have control issues and don’t see how you can give your control to the Surgeon of Souls? I heard a psychologist say, the need to control things is rooted in fear. 365 times in the Excellent Book, it is written “fear not”. One can say one for each day of 2026. If fear is behind your control issues as is the case for many of us, the encouragement is to sign the form, the Surgeon of Souls is an expert with this.
If someone disappoints you, understand this, they didn’t sign their consent form, and the Surgeon of Souls has not been able to do what he is an expert at. Is that something you can relate to? I definitely can. As humans we are all the same. This is why memes go viral. Apparently, we have all led the same life, despite living in different countries, continents, time zones, languages and even socio-economic backgrounds. So, if I’ve not signed my consent form for the surgeon of Souls to help me do what I’m supposed to do by Gods’ standard then I can assume the same is true for the person who has disappointed me. They’ve done the exact same thing I’ve not done, not signed the consent form aka not totally surrendered to the Surgeon of Souls.
By the way what’s Gods’ standard? Jesus said it excellently, as he always does. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. He went on to call it the great and first commandment. He also said the second is like it, you shall love your neighbour as yourself. Love is in both, so what is love? Is it the romcom love we see on Netflix, Prime, Hulu or your chosen streaming service. Is it the love we see between couples on tv like Martin & Gina, Ghost & Angela Valdes or may be the homely one between Cliff & Clair Huxtable or the Biblical ones, Isaac & Rebecca, Abraham & Sarah, Priscilla & Aquila or is it what Solomon had with his 700 wives and 300 concubines?
This is what God says love is. We can rely on his view because God is Love. So, Love says “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” And with that definition, a lot of things labelled “love” get quickly demolished as not love.
When someone signs their consent form for the Surgeon of Souls to operate in their lives, literally, there are signs. We know how humans love signs. Ask Gideon (Judges 6:17,33-40) and ask any person who has been dating someone and has asked God for a sign to know whether they should stop dating them or continue. Off course I am in that support group. Not just the one that asks for a sign, but the one that asks for a sign and doesn’t obey what the sign says, i.e, run. Needless to say, I have signed my consent form for the Surgeon of the Soul to help me because I need help.
When someone has signed their consent form for the Surgeon of Souls to operate in their lives he also brings in the Divine Anaesthetist who Breathes life and because of that has incredible power, that can bring what is dead to life aka resurrection power. There are certain signs aka fruits that show up in the person when the Divine Anaesthetist is at work: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. That last one has many names in the world. The world sometimes calls it emotional intelligence or discipline or healthy habits. When the Surgeon of Souls showed me this connection, that healthy habits are all about self-control, I was on the floor with my mouth open.
This is why I was saying every problem we have is not just a physical one. At this time when people are setting new year’s resolution, they may come to me for help with their health and setting their goals up to win but if they haven’t signed that consent form for the Surgeon of Souls to operate and consequently give them those fruit including self-control that will then lead to healthier habits, anything they do will otherwise be in vain. Again, I have signed my consent form so the Surgeon of Souls can help me help others because my work with them is beyond, behaviour change and executing “atomic habits”. I need help to help others.
What happens when someone doesn’t sign their consent form for the Surgeon of Souls to operate? The Divine Anaesthetist cannot work. He is not given the chance to breathe life and bring the fruits I’ve mentioned he would bring. How does this look like. It looks like Sarah with no patience despite God telling her and Abraham that he will give them a child. It looks like Sarah giving Abraham, her husband, a pass to sleep with her housekeeper so she can have a child. How that worked out for Sarah is in Genesis 16:4.
It looks like being mean. Nabal, Abigail’s first husband before Daudi, was very rich and when Daudi sent a message to him to give them whatever he had because it was a feast day and they had had good relations with Nabal’s shepherds who took care of his 3,000 sheep and 1,000 goats, Nabal refused. Find out how that worked for him in 1 Samuel 25:13-38.
It looks like jealousy or envy like Joseph’s brothers had for him that they conspired to kill him originally but then decided to cast him in a pit, then it was decided to sell him to their uncles kindred, the Ishmaelites. See how that ended up for Joseph in Genesis 41:42-46 but also see how it worked out for the jealous brothers in Genesis 42,43,44,45,50:15-21.
It looks like boasting. King Nebuchadnezzar was walking on the roof of his royal palace thinking to himself how he had built Babylon with his mighty power and for his own glory. Immediately he finished that thought he heard a voice from heaven telling him he had lost his kingdom. Next thing he is with the beasts of the field, eating grass like an ox, with nails like a bird’s claws. Find out what happened to him in Daniel 4:34-37.
It looks like being proud. Herod made an oration to the people, and they remarked his voice was like a god not man. He didn’t do anything to humble himself. Find out what the angel of God did to him when he didn’t give God the glory in Acts 12:23
It looks like dishonouring others and being self-seeking like Haman with Mordecai. Mordecai was never gifted for revealing the plan to kill the king. The king wanted to reward him and Haman walked in at that moment to request that Mordecai should be hanged on gallows he had already prepared. The conversation went totally opposite of what Haman wanted, and he never saw what happens in Esther 6:10-14 & 7:3-10 coming.
It looks like being angered easily, which leads to the first murder in human history. Cain was so angry God asked him why he was angry and why his countenance had fallen. God warned him if he carried on that way, sin was couching at the door for him, but he was to master it. Did he master it? The answer is in Genesis 4:8-16.
It looks like keeping record of wrongs. The Surgeon of Souls told a story of how a king had excused an enormous debt of one of his servants, a preacher said it could have been something like $72 billion i.e. a debt he could never repay, but this servant could not do the same for someone who owed him $350! Matthew 18:34 reveals keeping record of wrongs did not work for him. If forgiveness is a struggle, which it is for many of us, in Jesus name, sign your consent form and remember God has cancelled our $72 billion debt, so we should cancel the $350 owed to us. If we want God to cancel our debt, we must cancel the debts owed to us. May we not block our 2026 prayers by not cancelling debts, in Jesus name.
It looks like Judas, delighting in evil instead of rejoicing in the Truth, literally and figuratively and betraying Jesus for 30 pieces of silver which in any currency, past or present is definitely not a lot. Acts 1:28-18-19 tells how that story ended.
It looks like not always protecting just like the pharaoh who did not know Joseph decided to do by dealing shrewdly with the people of Israel setting taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens, ordering to have their baby sons killed and this oppression as God told Abraham would last 400 years.
It looks like not always trusting like the 10 out of 12 spies. All they saw was intimidation and as a result spread fear but most of all did not trust that the same God who delivered them from Egypt would keep his promise to take care of them despite any true or perceived threat. Because they didn’t trust in God the outcome God had for them is described in Numbers 14:22-24.
It looks like always not hoping and not persevering. The children of Israel from Exodus 15 to the last book of the Bible, shows how they didn’t hope and persevere and as a result took matters into their own hands and ended up in slavery, exile and oppression.
It looks like love always failing, which to me means love is not there, which means God is not there and can explain the pharisees with no love, no God and can kill an innocent man with no sin. They continued with their violent ways all through the New Testament wanting to kill anyone associated with Jesus.
It looks like no joy, no peace, no goodness, no faithfulness, no gentleness which again is the story of the pharisees. The result is they were perpetually violent in nature.
It looks like no self-control which in one form is Cain and his lack of self-control to manage his anger and ends up killing his baby brother with no remorse.
You can definitely go deeper with these characters than I have done. In addition to that these are just some bible characters. I haven’t even come to the modern world.
When we don’t sign the consent form for the Surgeon of Souls this is what happens to us, then we wonder why we are disappointed by others. Not everyone has signed their consent form. Not only does the person do the opposite, but they come into your personal space: bed, home, neighbourhood/building, road, bus, train, plane, work, school, family gathering, outdoor gathering-restaurant or venue, romantic relationship and the one that gets many, Church. All these characters come to Church. They are coming to church in 2026!
Cain is coming to church with his anger management issues. Haman is coming to church with his plot to kill anyone not Persian. Nabal a millionaire, is coming to church and will not contribute to the local offering for Holy Communion. Eve outrightly disobedient to the Most High comes to church and will blame a snake for her sins. Adam jumps when he is told to jump and comes to church and has no standing when matters are voted for in church.
Abraham lies and takes sexual passes and is a deacon in church soon to be promoted as Elder. Laban has other gods and comes to church to also worship the True God. Jacob the deceiver will imitate the pastors voice to get a deal he knows he shouldn’t get and will merrily and faithfully come to church. When the children of Israel see 2026 is harder than 2025 and their gods are not speaking because that’s what man-made gods do, they may come to church for a while then leave again, to repeat the cycle, but they will come.
Josephs biological brothers have plotted to kill him and they come to church and are part of the choir. Let me leave Old Testament and come to New Testament. Peter says he will never deny Jesus and vehemently denies him 3 times, and not only is he coming to church he faithfully comes to prayer meeting every Wednesday, whatever the location, church, zoom or on the lake. Thomas refuses to believe Jesus is risen until he sees the scars. With his unbelief in this matter, he is coming to church and will be leading a class.
Mama Jesus, aka Mary who has never seen a virgin pregnant, heard a message from the angel and showed tremendous faith, but later on didn’t stop the family from trying to go and seize Jesus, when people said Jesus was beside himself. Mary aka Mama Jesus, is coming to church.
The piece du resistance, the pharisees who know the books of the law inside out, claim to know God and believe in Abraham and Moses yet remain violent in nature, killed the disciples in gruesome ways, are definitely coming to church to judge your dressing, earrings, make up and gossip about the woman they caught in adultery. Em…how did they know to catch her in adultery?
With all these characters in church do you see why it’s necessary to set yourself up not to be disappointed. If they’re in church, they’re everywhere. I don’t see people stopping from going everywhere so why do people stop going to church? The only way not to set yourself up for disappointment wherever you go or don’t go, is to sign your consent form for the Surgeon of Souls to operate. Humans are everywhere so this is the only way to full proof your interactions with humans.
Also, the form is not signed like these other forms we sign, once and you are done. Every day you wake up, sign that consent form for the Surgeon of Souls to operate. If you don’t you will expect humans to do what they can’t and they will disappoint you in ways your eyes have not seen and ears have not heard.
When you go to church and you haven’t signed that consent form, it means you are setting up yourself for church hurt. In the name of Jesus please sign that consent form, church hurt is painful and it stings because you are not expecting hurt from church. But as you’ve seen that’s a faulty, incorrect view, that sets you up for that very pain you wouldn’t want to experience. I learnt the hard way, so I signed my consent form.
When church hurt happens, you will want to leave that congregation, do online worship solo or leave God entirely. The pharisees with their violent selves exist because they left God entirely. They never signed their consent forms and in fact they have blatantly said they will not sign it ever. It then becomes a vicious cycle of that violence in them continuing and it doesn’t stay at the same level. It becomes more wicked and more evil.
Jesus gave the explanation of this in the Excellent Book, where he says a demon goes looking for rest, can’t find it, comes back to its former house and it invites 7 other demons more wicked and the condition of that person becomes worse. Why did the demon return to its former house? When it came back, it found the person had not signed their consent form for the Surgeon of Souls to operate.
The house was clean with no protection; there was no Red on it. When the Surgeon of Souls operates, the demons see Red, they tremble and are scattered.
This year, see people for who they are, descendants of Adam and Eve not Jesus. If you rely on or expect much from descendants of Adam and Eve, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. If you rely on the Surgeon of Souls, he said in this life you will have tribulation, be courageous for he has overcome the world. How does this look?
It looks like the weapon is formed- the fire has been heated SEVEN times hotter but guess what, it doesn’t prosper. Not only do you NOT burn in the fire, but you walk inside it like there is no fire. Why? The Surgeon of Souls is in control of everything and Nothing is ever too hard for him!
In 2026, the life you want, the dreams/new years resolutions you want to achieve, the peace, sanity and rest you need, requires you to sign that consent form, every day you wake up and for every area of your life. Don’t sign for your leg or small toe only. Sign for every nook and cranny of your life and see how God will uphold you with his victorious right hand such that the victory you will see will be the kind eyes haven’t seen and ears haven’t heard, what God with his unfailing LOVE, is willing to do for you in 2026.
May 2026 Bring you Abundant & Exceeding Blessings.
